Investment

Investment activities in EBE rank among the advanced investment activities of banks in Egypt. They started with the establishment of the bank and kept on evolving. These activities have always aimed at supporting the bank's role to finance direct and indirect export activities. They have also been effective tools to finance institutions that focus on export aid, export guarantee, and imports substitution. Investment activities in EBE cover a wide scope with emphasis on the following :

[1] Equity investments:

a. Direct equity investments:
Including both private and publicly traded equity directly held by the bank.

b. Indirect equity investments:
Among the most effective tools in EBE's repertoire are private equity funds. They use the experience of efficient asset management companies to channel substantial funds to boost certain sectors, while maintaining an acceptable level of risk through diversification of the portfolio.
Indirect equity investments also include EBE's financial holding subsidiaries established to provide a controlled expansion of the investment activities as well as achieve a better management of its assets.

[2] Non-governmental Bonds and Alternative investments:

Non-governmental bonds include corporate bonds and securitization bonds. And while the term alternative investments refers to a whole range of investment tools, EBE only concentrates on bond-like certificates which carry some features of the bonds such as coupon distribution. Termination of such investments is usually triggered by the achievement of a certain return (Triggered put).

[3] Establishing and subscribing in Equity/Money Market Funds:

With various degrees of equity / money market mix. In addition to investing in Funds established by other institutions, EBE has already established three funds of its own with different investment policies to satisfy a broader scope of investor needs. These funds can be classified as: Equity, Money market, and Asset allocator funds.

[4] Publicly Traded Portfolios:

Including those managed by EBE and others managed by other specialized parties.
